Fenceworks tips on how to maintain your trampoline and swing Set

Trampolines:

We all know the AlleyOOP trampolines are built with the best materials in the industry, but there are still some precautions you can take to ensure that your trampoline will stay in top shape for the many many years you will own it.

Try to make sure the mat of the trampoline is free from debris before you jump. AlleyOOP makes a weather cover to protect the mat from sticky sap, leaves, berries, or other things that can collect on your trampoline. If you would like to keep the mat clean while the trampoline is not in use, then the weather cover is perfect for you. We always recommend that all jumpers take off their shoes when on the trampoline. Pebbles or sticks can be brought in the trampoline from your shoes, which can rip through the mat.

In the winter, we recommend that you either remove the mat and springs from your trampoline OR gently brush the snow off the bed when the snow is heavy enough that it weighs the trampoline bed down. The weight of the snow will keep your springs in a stretched position, and can affect the integrity of the springs.

Lastly, be cautious of lawnmowers or leaf blowers shooting sparks onto the trampoline. These sparks can put holes in your net, mat, or pad.

Fenceworks offers a Safety Inspection program for all past AlleyOOP owners. This will include tightening of bungees, straps, enclosure, etc. During the inspection, many customers choose to add the power bounce addition or even a new basketball hoop. Materials are sold separately. Please call Fenceworks for more information on this program.

Swing Sets:

Fenceworks offers a service to stain and re-tighten bolts on all swing sets purchased from our location. Feel free call us at 847-432-0900 if you would like to get an estimate to stain your set. However, here are some tips on what to do to make sure your swing set is always safe and looking sharp.

Check all nuts and bolts twice monthly during usage season for tightness. We also recommend that all tarps be removed in the winter to avoid damage. Over time, wood will dry and you may have areas that need to be sanded down. Lastly, please make sure to care for the wood by sealing it (when or how often you do it depends on the type of wood on your set). If you are unsure how often to seal/stain your set, feel free to contact us for more information.

Dogs Love Fenceworks Too!

You've got to love being able to play outside with the whole family, and I mean, the WHOLE family! Dogs love Fenceworks products too! The Fenceworks unofficial mascot: Dublin the Goldendoodle, loves to visit Fenceworks and run up the Gang Plank, or chase the Basketballs. When he was a just a puppy, we loved to put him on the trampoline and let him run around (you have to be careful your doggies nails are not long enough to rip the bed)! You'd be surprised how quickly a child's playhouse can turn into a doghouse, or a Gang Plank can turn into a doggy ramp. Don't forget, Fenceworks bulds great Fences, Dog Runs and Kennels, to help keep your two and four-legged kids in the yard!

So we begin, with the Fenceworks Fun Times!

Fenceworks has been serving Chicago and the North Shore of Chicago since 1967. We love what we do, and we truly believe in the products we carry. Fenceworks is a family owned and operated business, and you know that as soon as you walk through our doors. Our store is filled with family pictures and even a couple pictures of playsets!

Our Playground Department consists of the PlayNation Swing sets, Hoop Works and Bison Basketball Hoops, and the amazing AlleyOOP trampolines. Our Fence Department specializes in Western Red Cedar fencing, but also offers Chainlink, Vinyl, PVC, Aluminum and Wrought Iron Fences.

We plan to blog about different offers and sales that may be going on, but also to share family stories, and show you the products we carry. We have been making yards beautiful with our Fences, and kids jump for joy with our Hoops, Playgrounds, and Trampolines (literally)!
